4.24.20 Principals Update
Dear Parents,

I hope that you and your family are staying safe and healthy! The Star Center family misses being together as a school community more than words can describe.  We deeply miss your children! We have strived to develop supportive systems virtually that have supported each learner.

As you are aware, the announcement was made last week that Wisconsin schools will remain closed through the end of the school year.  With this announcement, we wanted to update you on a few processes and procedures at Star Center as we continue to focus on learning and supporting your child.

-Teachers will continue to provide students with virtual learning assignments Monday - Thursday.  Assignments will be emailed or loaded into the Google Classroom.

 - Fridays will continue to be a day of enrichment and support.  It is also an opportunity for students to get caught up on late work or receive additional support from their teacher.

-We will be issuing 4th quarter report cards at the end of the school year, and students will be receiving letter grades (4th - 5th grade). Grades will be based on work completed in 4th quarter virtual. We will be using a “no harm” approach to our grading, with a focus on positive, specific feedback included in the comments section of the report card.  Work not completed will be marked as “No Evidence”.

-In June, we will have a coordinated day for students to pick-up all materials that were left at school. On this day, students will be asked to return their chromebook, charger, and library books. More specific details will be sent to you prior to this event.

Remember together we are better and thank you for supporting us during these unprecedented times.  The students and staff amaze me daily engaging in daily class meetings and through supportive phone calls and emails. Keeping our students engaged through these virtual platforms can be challenging, but through open lines of communication and support we can do anything.

Thank you to the families for your support, and as always please don’t hesitate to contact me with your questions or concerns. The best way to communicate with me is via email at [email protected]

Sincerely,
Chiper Tennessen
Principal
